About me

Hello friends, my name is Dan. I started The Retro Millennial back in 2022 as a way to discuss the tech and culture of the 90s and 2000s that I grew up with. I enjoy writing, tinkering with old tech, and resisting the techno-dystopia by building on the open, small web. I write articles and produce a podcast discussing old computers, software, video games, and more. The full publication is over on Substack at https://retropunk.substack.com.

About this website and MARCHintosh

This site was born out of a desire to create something that reminded me of the web that I grew up on. My goal is to create something that is reminiscent of the websites from the mid-to-late 1990s, built using era-appropriate tools, for people who enjoy using vintage computers and web browsers. That's where MARCHintosh comes in.

MARCHintosh is an event where retro tech enthusiasts pull out their vintage Macintosh computers and do some cool stuff to share with the world! For this project, I am working on a 14-inch iBook G4 from 2005 running Mac OS X "Tiger". Development of this website is being done using BBEdit Lite v4.6 from 1999 and Microsoft Word 98 for Macintosh. I am currently aiming for HTML 3.2 standards, but may try to increase compatibility for people on older systems and older browsers as time goes on.
